It is increasingly certain that after the launch of the PlayStation 5 Slim at the end of 2023, we will welcome a PlayStation 5 Pro sometime in October 2024. Which raises some very interesting questions, as this could be the time when that Sony gives the final blow to its rival Microsoft and its Xbox consoles.
PS5 Pro in October. What is the “fair” price for the PS5 Slim?
Therefore, in case you didn't know, the real price of the PlayStation 5, whatever it may be, is not what we have on the market in 2024.
In other words, after being launched at €399 for the Digital version and €499 for the version with Blu-Ray player, the Sony console became more expensive around €50 more or less 2 years after its original launch. An increase that was due to the incredible demand that existed at the time, the production problems that Sony was having, and of course, the impact of inflation on the European market.
Problems that today no longer have the same impact as they did in 2022. Especially because in 2024, Sony has already fully invested in a lighter, more compact model, and of course, cheaper to produce.
Therefore, at a time when Sony wants to launch a new console that is a little more powerful and evolved, a little like what was done with the PS4 Pro a few years ago.
It is undeniable that there is room to launch a PS5 Pro that is slightly more expensive than the current PS5 Slim with Blu-Ray player. This is at the same time that the price of current consoles on the market is being lowered.. A move that makes perfect sense! Especially at this point in the championship when Nintendo has decided to postpone its Switch 2 until the beginning of 2025, and Microsoft is having serious problems moving hardware from store shelves to players' rooms.
The question here is… What is the fair price for a PS5 Slim, and what price could a PS5 Pro reach!? €299~399 for the PS5 Slim, and €599 for the PS5 Pro?
