Players of “PUBG: Battlegrounds” can expect some new features in the coming months. The roadmap for 2024 provides an overview.
Krafton would like to continue to provide extensive support for the live service game “PUBG: Battlegrounds” this year. The roadmap released today reveals what players will experience in the coming months.
The roadmap for 2024 includes gameplay adjustments, matchmaking optimizations, collaborations and destructible environments. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 is also in preparation. The same applies to user-generated content.
Destructible environments and gameplay adjustments
According to Krafton, it will soon be possible to leave the scene of the event devastated in “PUBG: Battlegrounds”. According to the publisher, this feature gives the game a new dimension for strategic and tactical action.
Once unlocked, players will be able to destroy parts of buildings or build defensive barriers. These features will be introduced in the next April update and further improvements and enhancements are planned.
The environments will be ready to edit soon.
Gunplay adjustments are scheduled every two months and are intended to offer players a greater variety of choices. The Gunplay Labs in the arcade initially serve as a test environment.
Furthermore, items are being developed that aim to support survival and provide more dynamism in the actions. At the same time, special game modes are created for a “more relaxed gaming experience”.
There are also new game systems: The team-versus-team system allows users of “PUBG: Battlegrounds” to compete against another team in cooperation with their teammates and receive rewards for achieving winning streaks as a team.
Content, collaborations, Unreal Engine 5 and UGC
Furthermore, upcoming updates for “PUBG: Battlegrounds” will introduce new elements in existing maps. They will maintain the basic gameplay while adding features and content from new seasons, collaborations or modes. This includes collaborations with vehicle brands and IPs as well as progressive weapon skins
The switch to Unreal Engine 5 – or the preparation for it – is also planned. The same applies to preparation for User Generated Content (UGC), with which players create their own content and use it.
Matchmaking und Ranked-Ãberarbeitungen
Krafton highlights matchmaking improvements in today's announcement. The MMR (Matchmaking Rating) system is optimized so that there is fair competition between players with comparable skills.
When it comes to matchmaking, the software is based on several points.
The behavior pattern of the AI in “PUBG: Battlegrounds” is also an issue in order to create a “more intense and meaningful gaming experience with more natural actions and more varied situations”.
Improvements to Ranked Mode are intended to strengthen the connection between normal matches, ranked matches and esports. The Rondo map will join the ranked mode map pool in April. There are also considerations about incorporating them into esports.
Krafton also promises tiered and exclusive rewards for ranked mode as well as greater weighting of kills.
Increased anti-cheat measures are another part of the roadmap for 2024 and will be expanded to normal matches and all game modes. The active use of deep learning technologies will increase speed and efficiency.
Detailed information on the 2024 roadmap is available listed on the official website.
“PUBG: Battlegrounds†is free im PlayStation Store verfügbar, at least in most countries. In Germany, 25 cents are charged for age protection reasons.
