Valve has reached another milestone with its handheld PC Steam Deck and its Linux distribution SteamOS and now has more than 14,000 verified or playable games from the huge game catalog of its own game distribution platform Steam. 80 percent of all games evaluated by Valve have already earned the “Verified” or “Compatible” seal.
Gaming on Linux is still on the rise
Just a few months after breaking the barrier of 10,000 supported games, ProtonDB and SteamDB list more than 14,000 verified or playable games for Valve's gaming handheld. The titles not only run on the Steam Deck and Steam Deck OLED, but also on all other gaming PCs with Linux, Steam client and Proton.

Furthermore, around 76 percent of the top 1,000 on Steam are now rated “Platinum” or “Gold” for compatibility. If you add the “Silver” rating, where minor adjustments are necessary, then around 86 percent of all games in the top 1,000 run without any problems under Linux.
Source: ProtonDB Valve in particular has ensured this rapid development with the Steam Deck and SteamOS, as the company is also constantly working on improving the Proton software, which is based on the Windows-compatible Wine runtime environment. PCGH has also recently reported more and more extensively on this topic and will continue to do so.
Valve checks all relevant games for the Steam Deck
The “Steam Deck Compatibility Program” serves as the basis, as part of which the developers at Valve evaluate every relevant title from the game catalog of the in-house sales platform Steam for compatibility with Steam Deck, SteamOS, Proton and Linux. Just recently there were extremely prominent new additions that are now Steam Deck Verified.
