Founded in 2020, the Polish studio Critical Hit Games, through the IGN portal and with the support of the publishing house Plaion, presented its debut game – the neo-noir first-person detective Nobody Wants to Die.
Nobody Wants to Die is set in a dystopian New York. The year is 2329. Technology has endowed people with eternal life: consciousness can now be stored in memory banks or transferred from body to body. But only by subscription.
Players will take on the role of Mortality Detective James Carra. Having almost died, the hero, together with the young police officer Sara Kaya, sets off on the trail of a serial killer who has started a hunt for the city elite.
To reconstruct the chain of events that preceded each murder and determine the circumstances of the victim's death, players will have to examine crime scenes using a time management device and advanced technology.
“In a world of eternal life, where death is almost forgotten and morality disappears before our eyes, you, a seasoned detective, will have to stand on the thin line between good and evil and walk along it towards the harsh truth,” reads the description of the game on Steam.
The announcement of Nobody Wants to Die was accompanied by a two-minute cinematic trailer. Viewers were impressed by the video. “Damn, I’m speechless because of this trailer,” admitted Lectorrex.
Nobody Wants to Die will be released in 2024 on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. They promise a story exploring the dangers of transhumanism and immortality, photorealistic graphics on Unreal Engine 5 and translation into Russian.
