Ludwig Göransson received his second statuette for his score for Oppenheimer, but in his emotional speech he spoke a little disparagingly about video games.

Initially, the Swedish composer thanked director Christopher Nolan:
“Your idea to use the violin in the score allowed me to collaborate with my wonderful wife and acclaimed violinist Serena Göransson.”
And then he turned to his parents:
“Thank you for giving me guitars and drums instead of video games!”
Perhaps unintentionally, but with his words, Göransson seems to have somewhat devalued the work of the creators and composers of video games (not to mention the condescending attitude towards video game connoisseurs), who are also recognized with prestigious awards. For example, in 2023, the 2023 Grammy Music Awards added a separate category for game soundtracks, in which Assassin's Creed Valhalla and composer Stephanie Economou distinguished themselves.
As for Oppenheimer, the Best Score award is just one of a number of awards that Christopher Nolan's film has won this year (seven Oscars in total, including Best Picture and Best Director).
Göransson, 39, previously won an Oscar for his score for Black Panther in 2019 and is nominated for Best Original Song in 2023. The composer was also awarded BAFTA, Golden Globe and Grammy awards for his music for Oppenheimer.
