In a little less than a month, Amazon Prime Video welcomes a new serial video game adaptation! As this creation involves the games he made, Todd Howard, a great figure at Bethesda, had his say. Faced with the multitude of ideas included in the series, Todd Howard decided to draw his joker: he asked not to include certain elements, preferring keep them for… Fallout 5!
A new video game adaptation is coming to Prime Video, it will try to do as well as The Last of Us!
For some time now, video game adaptations, whether into films or television series, have been all the rage. Sonic, The Last of Us, Super Mario Bros., Halo and many more! While waiting to discover other formats, like the big PlayStation exclusives such as Horizon and God of War, Amazon Prime Video, which also manages the creation of the derivative series on the famous god of war, hopes to hit strong with the launch of the Fallout series. Last December, fans of the Bethesda license were able to discover the funny and offbeat tone of this adaptation.
However, the series knows how to be extremely serious in its approach. We are encouraged on this point since it can count in particular on the scriptwriting contribution of Jonathan Nolan, the brother of Christopher Nolan. He notably worked on some of his brother's feature films, such as The Prestige, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar. Despite this great filmography, he has not only limited himself to cinema since we find him involved in the series Person of Interest and Westworld. From there, we say to ourselves that the narrative of the Fallout series should hold up, even though Microsoft and Bethesda have put their little grain of salt… and their veto.

Todd Howard, the director of the Fallout games, has banned the use of certain things in the series: he wants to keep them for Fallout 5
Not so long ago, Jonathan Nolan spoke as part of the promotion of the Fallout series and he suggested that the series was much more than yet another program to follow on Amazon Prime Video. Besides, a quick aside: contrary to the platform's habits, all the episodes will be available at the launch, on April 11. According to Nolan, this series is a bit like Fallout 5… in a non-interactive version. But that was before he offered some details, saying “it would be very presumptuous for anyone to assume that we will reach the caliber of games”.
Indeed, Jonathan Nolan was not the only one to supervise the narration since Todd Howard, the director of the Fallout 3 and 4 video games, was never far away to maintain control, somehow. Although he primarily wanted to create an original story with this series on Amazon Prime Video, Todd Howard still had to curb their ideas and desires. As he explained in an interview for the site Den of Geek, he asked them not to include certain elements in this television adaptation. “There were things where I said, 'Don't do it, we'll do it in Fallout 5,'” he notably mentioned during the interview. With Todd Howard at your back, you can't do what you want, even when your name is Amazon!
