If you're interested in Dark Souls III and mods, you should put Dark Souls: Archthrones on your list. The massive mod is getting a demo soon and should be worth more than just a look.
It's always impressive what talented modders can achieve and Dark Souls: Archthrones couldn't be any less interesting. A motivated mod team has been working on the legendary Dark Souls III for over four years.
It will be a revision on a “scale never seen before”. The story begins before the first game in the series and is intended to offer you five unique worlds that can be reached from the Nexus. The team has also created a whole series of new and deadly bosses.
It is still unclear when the mod will finally be completed, but at least there will be a first demo from March 15th, the scope of which has not yet been described in more detail. At least you can get a first impression of the modification.
Hopefully everything will be in a good state technically, because the demo was actually supposed to be released in the fall, but was postponed several times in favor of further optimization. You can find more information about Archthrones on the team's Patreon page, where you can also contribute financially to support the team.
The catch with Dark Souls: Archthrones is, of course, that the mod can only be played on the PC and console users come away empty-handed. The trailer, which provides some insight and with which the demo date was announced, is platform-independent:
