Google would enlarge the diagonals of the two screens of its Pixel Fold 2. Better use of the screens or widening of the frames, the question remains.
The first rumors about the Pixel Fold 2 screen are incorrect according to Ross Young. This analyst always knowledgeable when it comes to screens explains in a tweet that the internal screen of the Pixel Fold 2 would be 8.02 inches while its external panel would extend over a diagonal of 6.29 inches.
Enlarged chassis or better occupancy rate?
In both cases, Google would therefore revise upwards the displays of its foldable smartphone. For its part, the Pixel Fold has 7.6-inch and 5.8-inch screens. The latter is the most criticized because of a ratio that is too square, incompatible with many applications which fill the display with unsexy black bands. Google would be well inspired to review this aspect ratio.
It remains to be seen how this expansion of the slabs will take place. Will Google expand its phone or rather maximize the occupancy rate of its screens? There is some headroom there, with the Pixel Fold's internal screen only covering 83% of the available space.
The leaks on the Pixel Fold 2 don’t have the display sizes right. 8.02″ for the foldable display and 6.29″ for the cover display. Panel production starts in April! It is coming.

You will also need to remember to cover these slabs with a protective layer. Our colleague from NotebookCheck had paid the price for a protective film that was too short on the Pixel Fold. Installed in the factory, it did not border the entire slab, exposing its surroundings to external aggression. Results, a few broken pixels, then a panel to change.
Ross Young does not mention the definition or the refresh rate of the Pixel Fold 2 screens. We can bet on Oled models in 120 Hz, the current standard for high-end, and with which the first Pixel Fold is already equipped.
A release postponed because of Tensor G4?
The rest of the features come from a recent leak relayed by Android Authority. The Pixel Fold 2 would benefit from a revisited design including a square photo module, thus abandoning the visual signature of the Pixel.
Regarding its configuration, everything will depend on its release date. The latest news is that Google has postponed its launch in order to give it the performance of a Tensor G4 coupled with 16 GB of RAM (a first for a Pixel). The Pixel Fold was presented at Google I/O 2023 and in fact had to make do with a Tensor G2. In 2024, the Mountain View firm would opt for a later release in order to use its new chip across its entire range: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel Fold 2.
The question that interests us the most remains: will Google deign to offer its foldable smartphone on the French market this time?
