The multiplayer shooter Helldivers 2 is still extremely popular among gamers. Finally, the newly arrived mechs once again made the shooter's servers sweat. Now the players believe they have identified a new threat in the intergalactic war. There are increasing reports of flying insect enemies attacking in swarms. The CEO of the responsible developer Arrowhead Game Studios is trying to appease the masses via Twitter.
CEO dismisses flying beetle sightings as “lies.”
Sightings of a possible new insect enemy are currently increasing in the Helldivers 2 subreddit. The insects, which could possibly be called shriekers, attack from the air in swarms. One of the videos showing the adversaries comes from the user “Projectpatdc”, who is suddenly attacked by one of the beasts in the middle of a standard refinery mission on difficulty level 5. The insect deprives him of more than half of his life points in one fell swoop and immediately disappears back into the sky. Strange buildings can be seen in the distance, which could be the creatures' nests.
Arrowhead's CEO, Johan Pilestedt, clearly enjoys the guesswork of the players and is in full propaganda mode on Twitter: “I've heard rumors about flying beetles in Helldivers 2,” said the developer's boss. “I would like to officially refute such absurd claims. Everyone knows that beetles cannot fly. And I am not the only one who thinks so. The Ministry of Truth agrees that this is propaganda from beetle sympathizers who want to brainwash good people . #Lie.”
Finally, Pilestedt turned to the players to solve the problem with the many kicks from the matches. Because so-called “meta enthusiasts” are currently making life difficult for players in Helldivers 2. The community immediately came up with some suggestions on how the fight for democracy could be made more pleasant.
