The release of the flagship Intel Core i9-14900KS processor will not go unnoticed by motherboard manufacturers. In the latest UEFI firmware, they not only implemented its support, but also took care of additional functions. For example, MSI will make it easy to increase the maximum frequency of the new flagship LGA1700.
There is a corresponding option in the settings of MSI Z790 motherboards. When activated, the maximum frequency of the P-cores in the Core i9-14900KS will increase to 6.4 GHz, and with a multi-threaded load they will operate at 5.9 GHz. Let us remind you that out of the box this processor can reach a maximum of 6.2 GHz on two P-cores. A similar function was already available for other K-series chips, although the maximum frequencies were lower.
The official release of Intel Core i9-14900KS, according to available information, will take place tomorrow, and its recommended price will be $749. This processor will work with previously released LGA1700 boards subject to a UEFI firmware update and is the platform's swan song. In the second half of the year, Intel will introduce Arrow Lake-S chips in the LGA1851 design.
