In recent days, a video of Marvel's Spider-Man: The Great Web has been leaked online, a multiplayer action adventure in development exclusively for PlayStation, presumably at Insomniac, before Sony opted for its cancellation.
The video, which has seen its echo grow also thanks to the re-sharing of the former Sony Interactive Entertainment developer Chris Grannell, appears to be a real presentation trailer. The scenes feature gamers impersonating different versions of Spider-Man and fight the villains together in different realities of the Spider-Verse. A multiplayer concept that is certainly interesting, but which evidently did not fully convince Sony's leaders, who ultimately opted for cancellation despite the fact that development had already passed the initial stages (or at least that's what can be seen from the quality of the material emerged).
This was enough, in any case, to tease the fans of wall climbing, who thought well of starting a petition asking Sony to resurrect Marvel's Spider-Man: The Great Web project. It's on Change.org and is titled, more than appropriately, “Bring Back The Great Web.” Within two days she collected a total of 1,778 signatures compared to a target of 2,500, a quantity that is certainly not impressive, but certainly destined to grow in the coming days. It will be interesting to see how far it will go and, above all, whether Sony will take it into account for a possible re-evaluation of the project.
