Netflix confirms the return of Black Mirror with six episodes in 2025: season 7 will also have the sequel to the acclaimed USS Callister, the Star Trek parody that won the Emmy for Best TV Movie.
Black Mirror It has been a constant on Netflix for many years. The British series found a new home on Netflix and returns every two years with new batches of episodes that launch reflections on our relationship with technology.
After season 6 of Black Mirror, released in June 2023, Black Mirror season 7 has been confirmed. It will premiere in 2025, and they have revealed details of one of its chapters: the sequel to USS Callister.
Six chapters, one of them a direct continuation of USS Callister, which was the first chapter of the fourth season, released in December 2017.
The best episode of Black Mirror?
He 4×01 the Black Mirror It was USS Callister. Directed by Toby Haynes and written by William Bridges and Charlie Brooker, 76 minutes long, it seemed like a satire of Star Trek hid a much worse reality.
Robert Daly, played by the underrated Jesse Plemonsis a programmer resentful of his colleagues who creates a video game, “clones” his co-workers and locks them in this virtual reality.
Already back then, in 2017, there was talk of the possibility of USS Callister having its own spin-off. The rumors cooled down, and when least expected the sequel chapter was confirmed.
“The USS Callister will return… Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their troubles have just begun.”
The episode, acclaimed as much for its critique of technology and fragile masculinity as for its special effects, movie-worthy production values, and its Star Trek parody, won the Emmy for best Television Movie (despite being part of the fourth season).
Now, the sequel to USS Callister will be part of the seventh season of Black Mirrorwhich will arrive on Netflix in 2025, along with five other chapters.
