Ubisoft is counting heavily on Assassin's Creed in the coming years with a multitude of projects in development: one of them is codenamed Invictus and will be focused on multiplayer. A release year has just been revealed by a specific media.
Assassins, plural
If the franchise was able to reinvent itself with Assassin's Creed Origins by opting for a well-received action-RPG formula, Ubisoft nevertheless needed a little time to recharge its batteries after the gargantuan Odyssey and Valhalla: it's been four years since the latter was released and although Mirage came forward last year with an “old-fashioned” recipe (which was also popular), many are impatiently awaiting the next big project in the license.
This one is codenamed Red and will take place in feudal Japan : we are still waiting for a proper reveal of the title (even if leaks are legion about it), but also a spotlight on other projects currently being developed. Among them is Invictus, another code name for another game made official by Ubisoft: this one will be multiplayer and designed by a separate team, including For Honor veterans. But since its announcement in 2022, Ubisoft has unfortunately played the language of wood.
Towards a release in 2025?
The Insider Gaming site, which makes scoops its raw material and whose reputation precedes it, recently published a long exclusive article on Assassin's Creed Infinity. As a reminder, this is a sort of hub dedicated to the franchise, an experience which will connect all the games in the series while serving as a real common thread, but also offering regular content. More information can be found at this address.
In short, Insider Gaming confirms from a reliable source that Assassin's Creed Red will be released this year at the same time as Assassin's Creed Infinity, while Assassin's Creed Invictus would arrive… in 2025. If you missed multiplayer within the franchise, you shouldn't have to wait much longer to see him back.
Finally, the site also declares that Assassin's Creed Hexe (another code name), the next truly major opus and which would be “the darkest in the series”, will be released in 2026. Basically, get ready to eat secret blade all over the place for a while.
