In at least five cases the rocket will be landed in the Indian Ocean.
The US Federal Aviation Administration has increased the number of Starship launches available to SpaceX. Now you can make up to ten launches per year, previously the number of launches was limited to five.
The limit was increased after a review of the environmental impact of Starship launches was completed. At the same time, the department allowed SpaceX to land Starship not only in the Pacific, but also in the Indian Ocean.
According to documents published by the department, SpaceX plans to carry out at least five landings in the Indian Ocean. At first they will be hard – during the final part of the flight the rocket will simply fall into the water.
In the future, SpaceX plans to land the second stage of Starship on a floating platform. Now similar platforms are used as landing sites for Falcon family rockets.
The first attempt to launch the Starship launch vehicle will take place on March 14. The launch window will open at 15:00 Moscow time and will last 110 minutes; perhaps the weather will interfere with the launch.
Previous Starship launches have been partially successful. During the third launch, the rocket's creators hope to reach orbit, test fuel pumping and engine restart, and open the cargo bay doors.
