The hardcore action role-playing game Dark Souls 2 from FromSoftware recently turned 10 years old, and modder under the pseudonym emoose has prepared a gift for the entire project community on PC – the ability to play without a limit of 60 frames/s.
The fact is that the speed of many actions and functions in FromSoftware games is tied to the frame rate, and attempts to go beyond the set maximum value result in a number of problems.
In the case of Dark Souls 2, accelerating the game beyond 60 fps resulted in weapons losing durability too quickly, the hero turning into Sonic, and tissue physics and animated textures (like the water surface) breaking.
Released by emoose on March 13, the DS2FrameUnlimiter mod for Scholar of the First Sin allows you to enjoy the game at 120 (144 or even higher) fps without having to put up with the problems listed above.
The modification is still in beta and at this stage forcibly transfers the game to offline mode: emoose is not sure how the increased frame rate will affect multiplayer, and does not want to take risks.
To install the mod, just move the files xinput1_3.dll and DS2FrameUnlimiter.ini from the archive to the game directory, editing the latter. Beforehand, emoose advises you to make a backup copy of your saves.
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin was released in 2015 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Despite the highest ratings in the series, the game is considered its worst part – Hidetaka Miyazaki does not agree with the haters.
