Ubisoft announced this on the eve of the franchise's twentieth anniversary.
Time flies at breakneck speed, and somehow I can’t even believe that since the release of the first part of the Far Cry series, which many gamers, by the way, still perceive as the first and only one before the franchise slipped into a parody of itself myself, twenty years have passed. Formally, the series’ anniversary will come on March 23, because that’s when the release of Jack Carver’s adventures on a mysterious archipelago full of mercenaries and mutants took place, but a week of celebration from Ubisoft is already underway. The company did not foresee any serious events for this occasion, limiting itself only to a plan to hold a special broadcast on March 21 dedicated to the history of Far Cry as a series.
Let us recall that over twenty years, nine games have been released in the Far Cry series, of which six are full-fledged projects from the first to the sixth numbered parts, and three branches (“spin-offs”) – Far Cry Blood Dragon, Far Cry Primal and Far Cry New Dawn . The latest at the moment, the sixth part, was released in 2021 and, in fact, completely repeats the plot of the fifth part, adjusted only for the setting and individual details.
The seventh numbered part is already in development, but there is no official information on it yet. What is known from insider information is that the project will be largely non-linear.
