Six years after the release of Philippe Lacheau's film, Nicky Larson is preparing to return in a new Live-Action adaptation for Netflix.
Nicky Larson is back in Live-Action
The years go by and the character of Nicky Larson is still as popular as ever. Proof of this is with this new Live-Action adaptation project which is about to be released on Netflix. The film, directed by Yûichi Satô, turns out to be the very first Live-Action adaptation directly from Japan. On this point, France has therefore moved ahead of the country of the Rising Sun while Philippe Lacheau had already tackled such an adaptation project in 2018 with Nicky Larson and the Perfume of Cupid, a feature film which has also been met with some success at the time, accumulating nearly 1.6 million admissions in France during its run. But this time, rather than opting for an original story, Netflix decides to produce an adaptation more faithful to the manga by telling the beginnings of City Hunter.

A more faithful adaptation
In 2018, Philippe Lacheau wrote a completely original script for his project. A scenario validated by Tsukasa Hôjô himself, the author of City Hunter and Angel Heart, who loved the filmmaker's work. However, with this new film fans can expect to find a story more faithful to the manga storyline. Ryô Saeba – Nicky Larson in the French version, but you already knew that – is a libidinous detective from Tokyo, who works with his partner Makimura. But when the latter is murdered, the detective decides to lead the investigation alongside Kaori, the sister of his late partner. In essence, this Nicky Larson made in Netflix wants to be more faithful and more capable of attracting the international fanbase. See you on April 25 on the platform to discover the final result.
