“I haven't said much here because I have nothing positive to say about EA, my recent departure and the fact that so many, including my team, are suffering from the large-scale layoffs in the industry,” explains Marcus Lehto in the corresponding X contribution. A day after Lehto announced his departure from Electronic Arts, the company announced it would lay off five percent of its global workforce. This also affected the Ridgeline studio, which was responsible for the single-player content of the Battlefield series.

In the studio's closure announcement, Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment and Technology, suggested that Lehto's departure was part of the reason for Ridgeline Studio's closure. “Marcus Lehto recently made a personal decision to leave the project,” she elaborated. “To ensure our work continues without interruption, we have immediately taken over leadership from Criterion to oversee our single-player work. As part of this change, we will be disbanding Ridgeline as a standalone studio in Seattle, with some team members moving to Ripple Effect become.”
