Microsoft-owned professional social network LinkedIn has more than 1 billion users. The platform's developers are looking to increase the amount of time people spend on LinkedIn. To do this, they intend to integrate games into the social network.
We are talking about puzzles like Wordle, which has become very popular on the Internet. At the initial stage, three games will be available to LinkedIn users: Queens, Inference and Crossclimb. Researchers found references to games in the platform code and even published several pictures on the Internet showing the puzzle interface.
A representative of the social network confirmed that the company is working on integrating the games, but it is not yet known when exactly they will become available to users. “We're experimenting with adding puzzle games to LinkedIn as a way for users to have fun, improve relationships, and hopefully find new networking opportunities. Stay tuned to learn more,” the source quotes a LinkedIn representative as saying. He also added that in the pictures published on the Internet you can see the interface of the games, but by the time they are launched, the appearance of the puzzles may change.
Games regularly rank among the most popular apps on mobile and PC, both in terms of revenue and audience engagement. Puzzles are always very popular and the Wordle project is proof of this. The New York Times acquired Wordle in 2022, and late last year announced that the game still has millions of users. Against this background, it is not surprising that LinkedIn developers are trying to make their platform more attractive by integrating games.
