News Digest
The past week was full of interesting news from the world of technology. Let's start with robotics – OpenAI and the startup Figure AI created the work Figure-1 based on ChatGPT. This unique robot can analyze its surroundings using cameras and microphones, communicate with people and perform complex actions with high coordination of movements.
At the same time, a new version of the humanoid robot Unitree H1 was presented in China, striking with its incredible strength and dexterity. The video shows how difficult it is to knock him down even with a strong blow.
But Elon Musk is preparing to revolutionize satellite communications. SpaceX is actively testing the Direct to Cell function to transmit Internet traffic directly to Samsung, Apple and Google smartphones via the Starlink satellite system without modifications to the hardware.
There is also a lot of interesting things in the world of smartphones. Sources have emerged about the next Pixel 9 line, promising a hybrid design – the popular chopped edges from the iPhone combined with the proprietary Pixel camera unit. By the way, Pixel 8a and Pixel Fold 2 will be shown at Google I/O on May 14.
Xiaomi is working on Poco F6 with a new powerful Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor – and its direct competitor will be OnePlus Ace 3v/Nord 4, which will also have narrow frames around the screen. And Vivo X Fold 3 may become the thinnest foldable flagship.
The announcement of the Edge 50 line in the form of two models is also expected. The Pro version looks promising, but the younger Fusion model could be a real disappointment for those who liked last year's Edge 40 – hopefully it will be a replacement for the Edge 40 Neo, with the base Edge 50 coming a little later.
