There are a lot of games to find on Steam. Some are real gems, others are loveless and uninspired. One of the more interesting titles, at least if you take the plot as an opportunity, is Orc Warchief: Strategy City Builder. As the name suggests, the title is a building strategy game and has orcs at the center of its plot, the fictional creatures known, for example, from the fantastic worlds of JRR Tolkien.
Orcs against humans – after losing the First World War
Orc Warchief is developed by G-Devs and published by Polish publisher Creative Forge Games. It will still take a few months until then, because the release on Steam is not yet known and is expected to take place sometime in the third quarter of 2024. If you don't want to wait that long, you currently have the opportunity to play a free demo for Orc Warchief: Strategy City Builder.

Meanwhile, the plot turns out to be quite bizarre. As the product description reveals, the orcs lost the First World War against the humans. The latter are described as hideous and would have hunted the orcs like animals for years after their defeat and pushed them back deeper into the land. The player's mission is therefore: take revenge. To do this, he takes on the role of a war chief and has to reconquer land and rebuild villages.
The gameplay is then again based on the well-known and proven recipe for strategy building games. This includes gathering resources and food, stockpiling supplies, crafting weapons, and training orcs. However, this does not take place in a vacuum, but goes hand in hand with the aforementioned reconstruction of villages, which of course includes the construction of buildings.

In order for the orc population to grow, human settlements and caravans must be raided. This is supposed to increase fear among people and improve the player's reputation, which attracts new orcs. In addition, after worship, there is divine support, which can be useful in defending the villages, for example, because people are said to be willing to attack.
