TeamKill Media has announced “Quantum State”. The confirmation came in a series of tweets that included a first “screenshot.”
“Quantum Error”, published at the end of 2023, became a rating disaster. The metascore hovered around one Value of only 40 a. Players were similarly dissatisfied, which led to a user score of just 3.7 and an average of 2.06 out of five possible stars in the PlayStation Store.
Nevertheless, TeamKill Media would like to add another game to the new brand. The studio already emphasized last year that “Quantum Error” would result in a second part. And recent tweets make it clear that things are moving forward.
TeamKill Media’s new work is called “Quantum State”. This means that players can expect a “full-fledged successor” as emphasized.
Compared to the cosmic horror of the first part, the team is taking a new approach in the case of “Quantum State”. TeamKill Media describes the game as “a cinematic third-person shooter that relies heavily on narrative and stealth, in the style of Metal Gear”.
You can also see a first “screenshot”:
“Quantum State” is being developed for the PS5 and is based on the Unreal Engine 5. According to TeamKill Media, the launch is not planned for this year as it is still pending completion extensive work is pending.
Instead, the studio plans to release “Son and Bone” in the coming months. This is a first-person shooter set in a prehistoric world populated by dinosaurs. The title can be found in the PlayStation Store be put on your wish list.
Quantum Error was a success even before launch
The fact that “Quantum Error” is getting a successor seems to make sense, at least from TeamKill Media’s point of view. Despite widespread criticism, “Quantum Error” proved to be a commercial success for the company.
Even before the release, the game was able to meet the development budget through digital pre-orders. Later, people were even proud of what they had achieved:
After the disappointing debut of “Quantum State”, significantly fewer players are likely to be willing to place a pre-order. But how “Quantum State” will perform ultimately remains to be seen.
Perhaps the disappointing ratings of the first part prompted a new quality offensive. “Son and Bone” will also provide a clue this year. In any case, TeamKill Media promises “definitely a further development of QE”.
