The system will add special markers to frames from the game.
The company Irdeto, which develops the Denuvo anti-piracy protection system, spoke about TraceMark for Games technology. This is a system designed to track the sources of leaks – for example, during beta testing of a game.
The system embeds special markers in all gameplay frames, allowing developers to track leaks. Markers can be either visible or invisible; Special software is apparently provided to detect them in the image.
It is worth noting that the system will not prevent leaks as such – it will simply make it easier for developers to identify the source of the leak. Now developers are independently introducing similar markers into their games.
The developers of TraceMark for Games did not describe in detail how the system works. We don't know how many invisible markers are added to the frame and what will happen, for example, when the resolution is changed, the picture quality is degraded, or the image is cropped.
Irdeto representatives did not say whether the TraceMark for Games system is used in real games. If desired, Irdeto promises, developers will be able to use TraceMark for Games together with the Denuvo system, fully controlling access to content.
