The main actress of Rebel Moon returns to the very harsh criticism that was addressed to the first part.
The first part of Rebel Moon was released in December on Netflix. Before the sequel released in Aprilthe main actress Sofia Boutella defended the film which had so disappointed the critics.
“It really touched me for everyone who put so much heart, tears and sweat into this project”
The release of Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire on Netflix last December was not a great success from a critical point of view. And when a film is shown, we should not believe that this does not affect those who participated in the project. Despite her initial enthusiasm for this project directed by Zack Snyder, the main actress Sofia Boutella was upset by the negative feedback following the release of the film. In a recent interview with Vulture, Boutella expressed his sorrow in the face of these criticisms:
I always thought I was well equipped to take a beating, but then I read the reviews that came out about Rebel Moon and it really affected me. I'll be honest about it, I feel like I have to carry the project for everyone who cares about it, and that's what affected me. It's not about me. I was lucky, people liked my performance, but the film was criticized. It really touched me for everyone who put so much heart, tears and sweat into this project. It's hard to see something get torn down like this. I'm proud to have been a part of it, and if there is no more Rebel Moon, it will remain a very important part of my life that I will defend forever.
Zack Snyder's worst film?
Critics have not been kind to Rebel Moon, particularly regarding sa construction narrative and of the writing of his characters. Some media have called it waste, “worst Snyder film”, boring and ugly. Despite these harsh criticisms, Boutella remains determined to support the film. She underlined the importance of the project for the entire team involved, the impact the film had on them, as it did on her. She believes in this project, still today, and it will therefore not be not surprising to see her starring in the sequelwhich is due to arrive in a month on Netflix.

Rebel Moon Part 2, expected around the corner
Now that Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher is about to be released April 19 on Netflix, expectations are high. The explosive trailer (see at the top of the page) promises thrilling action. Kora, played by Boutella, and the surviving warriors, prepare for an epic clash. The film promises to dive deeper into the storyexploring the character motivations and the issues of their struggle against oppression. Despite the criticism, the wait for the sequel remains highwith fans hoping that this second part manages to reveal the richness of the universe created by Snyder and his teams of screenwriters. Also note that the director must publish a director's cut from the first film. This new version, as well as the second part of this story, could give back some credit to a first film which largely disappointed.
Rebel Moon Part 2: The Slasher arrives April 19 on Netflix.
