The popular game Roblox is introducing two new artificial intelligence technologies, announced this Monday, to simplify the process of creating games within the platform, making it more accessible for developers.
One of the new tools is the “Automatic Avatar Configurator”, which allows turn any 3D body mesh into a ready-to-use character in the virtual world do Roblox.
When importing a file in the appropriate format, the technology automates the creation of the rig (virtual skeleton) and cage (control structure) of the model, in addition to carrying out the skinning process (applying textures) automatically. This can save developers days of work, as the manual process of creating avatars can be time-consuming and complex.
Another new feature is the “Texture Generator”, a tool that works similarly to ChatGPTallowing creators to generate image patterns from text commands.
The AI behind the generator is able to identify the model to which the texture will be applied and considers characteristic elements, such as contours and specific details, to produce realistic textures.
This tool has the potential to significantly speed up the 3D content creation process, providing developers with a quick and intuitive way to bring new visuals to life and streamline workflows.

Both tools are completely free and do not require prior technical knowledge to use. While the Automatic Avatar Configurator is still in early alpha and cannot be tested by the public, the Texture Generator is now available in public beta through the advanced development environment, Roblox Studio.
