20th Century Fox has unveiled the first official teaser trailer for Alien: Romulus, the film directed by Fede Alvarezwho also acts as co-producer together with Ridley Scott, father of the franchise and director of Alien, Prometheus and Alien Covenant. Unfortunately, the trailer did not show a release date, but it did reveal part of the cast and confirmed the presence of the Xenomorphs with the classic design. A real return to the origins, more or less, a lot not only the atmosphere of the 1979 Masterpiece needs to be taken up again, but also the sound component, from the musical theme to the aliens' verses, while from Aliens it takes up the concept of the horde and the action component. Perhaps this is no coincidence, as the film is set between the first and second films.
Alien: Romulus, details on the new film
The unfortunate protagonists of Alien: Romulus are a group of colonizers who, for some reason, have encountered an alien life form: the Xenomorphs. The way they come into contact with this life form seems similar to what we saw with Alien. In fact, the colonizers explore an alien derelict (perhaps a Juggernaut?), awakening the most fearsome life form in the universe.
Unfortunately for the members of Romulus, this time you won't find yourself fighting against a single Xeno, but rather against a horde of aliens. What Fede Alvarez is doing seems to be a real fusion of the first two films, taking up both the concept of the horde seen in Aliens, complete with the presence of the M41A2 Pulse Rifle which, in fact, would confirm the canonicity of Aliens, and the horror perceived in Ridley Scott's film (achieving it, obviously, is a different matter).
He is in the cast Isabela Merced (who we will see as Dina in The Last of Us Season 2), Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu. We find Fede Alvarez directing, while the screenplay was handled by Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss and Walter Hill will serve as Producers, while Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O'Connor and Tom Moran will serve as Executive Producers.
