After five months, modding support is finally available for Colossal Orders Cities: Skylines 2. The topic has been a long-term source of excitement among fans, as the developers and publishers had already made it clear before the release that the Steam Workshop would be outside the mods is left in front. This decision was made due to the synchronization between PC and console versions. The fact that it took so long for modding support to be implemented also caused a degree of disillusionment among fans.
Paradox Mods – an overview
But the wait is now over and the Paradox Mods platform will be launched on March 25th, which will be the number 1 contact point for all modding matters relating to Cities: Skylines 2. A guest post about this was published in the Paradox Forum as part of a newly started modding series in the developer diary. In it, the author “SimNationJan” explains how Paradox Mods works.

Players access the modding platform via the main menu. Paradox Mods' interface allows created mods to be searched, discovered, or browsed, and the developers even highlight “particularly interesting, popular, or unique” mods. According to SimNationJan, so-called playsets can also be created with Paradox Mods. According to the guest post, these are “playlists for mods that provide easily switchable experiences.”

Those playsets can be created and managed not only via the in-game interface of Cities: Skylines 2, as SimNationJan explains, but also via the Paradox Mods website. The playsets are also stored in the backend so that they cannot be lost. The same applies in the other direction: discussions about mods can not only be started and conducted in the forum, but also directly in the game, it is said.
If you don't want to try out mods or only want to try out third-party mods, you can of course create your own mods. The map editor and code tools will be introduced in the modding beta of Cities: Skylines 2 next Monday. Developer Colossal Order explains how to use these in the next developer diary.
