Last year, on the occasion of the launch of the Pixel Watch 2, Google presented the new software features offered to its Fitbit ecosystem. Among these, one function is still awaited: the arrival of a Fitbit chatbot to chat with a virtual coach. Finally, the firm said more this Tuesday during its The Check Up conference dedicated to Google's new developments around artificial intelligence.
The event was an opportunity for Google to say more about the artificial intelligence experiments brought to Fitbit Labs, a new section available in the Fitbit smartphone application dedicated to AI functionalities.
The idea of this new Fitbit Labs feature will therefore be, for the Google brand dedicated to sport and well-being, to offer users relevant information based on specialized artificial intelligence, from Gemini and data collected by your connected watch or bracelet. Florence Thng, product director at Fitibt, explained that the idea behind this new feature was to allow users to better use their sports or health data in order to “connect the dots”, for example by establishing a relationship between the activity of the day and quality of sleep the following night:
We will integrate personal AI into our range of products to provide personalized information based on your needs and preferences.
Comprehensible graphics and a personal coach
Concretely, Fitbit Labs will notably allow users to automatically design graphs allowing certain data to be related. It will also be possible for users to interact with a chatbot based on Gemini. This chatbot is designed to be used as a coach by establishing, for example, a training program based on the user's current data.
The function will allow you to benefit from personalized training programs based on your health data and performance, with more or less intense workouts depending on your needs.

These AI features in Fitbit Labs are reminiscent of those of other manufacturers. In recent months, we have seen a breakthrough in AI on sports and connected health devices. This is particularly the case of the ring manufacturer Circular which offers its own Kira+ assistant, the Whoop connected bracelet, or Amazfit with AI Chat Coach. Even Samsung seems to want to integrate AI into sports and health advice with the integration of Galaxy AI into its next watches and its future Galaxy Ring.
As for Fitbit, you will have to wait a little longer to benefit from the AI-based functions. Google has in fact planned their deployment “later in the year, to a limited number of Android users”. Furthermore, this feature should be reserved for users subscribed to Fitbit Premium.
