Valve has published a making-of of its launch trailer for the Steam Deck OLED and demonstrated in detail how the US company was able to create an impressive sphere (“Orb”) with “OLED Surround” with a total of one hundred handheld PCs, which will later be released should countdown to the release. The ambitious project and its implementation inspire fans and the players on YouTube, as the many comments prove.
Source: Valve How the image or images for the countdown were streamed from a Linux PC to the one hundred Steam Deck OLED from a Linux PC using the streaming software OBS Studio is described by Valve in “The Construction of a Sphere” in the Steam community. The “shopping list,” according to Valve, for the project ultimately looked like this.
A custom aluminum frame designed and manufactured by our hardware prototyping lab at Valve. Two long-retired and now connected network switches from Steam.A mobile network shelf, a leftover from The International, gathering dust in a dark corner.Every network cable, which the IT team didn't need.Dozens of Deckmate-branded Steam Deck brackets.Hundreds of tiny 3D printed brackets, holders, and supports to hold everything together.

This enormous effort and ingenuity is rewarded by fans on YouTube with special appreciation and funny comments. Statements like “Valve is no ordinary company” or “…the teleporter in Dr. Kleiner's laboratory from Half-Life 2” are not uncommon and are a cause for concern.
This is an absolutely great demonstration of OLED panels!

The video, which shows the creation of the giant ball made of one hundred with the help of the Network Device Interface (“NDI”) and its Steam Deck OLED synchronized with the NDI plugin, is obviously extremely well received.
Source: Valve “NDI is a standard developed by NewTek (fans of old-school video production on an Amiga will remember, NDI came with the Video Toaster) for streaming videos over a network with low latency and good synchronization,” Valve said in his community blog.

In addition to the creation video, Valve has also released a video of a gameplay loop on the synchronized Steam Deck OLED, which is also well worth watching. The concept was simply implemented very harmoniously.
