Have you ever heard of Shinobi Warfare? This is a free to play two-dimensional turn-based RPG produced and developed by TechnoTalavailable on Steam from June 2022. In recent times, however, the game has ended up at the center of attention due to its “extremely positive” reviews which, however, are not genuine.
In fact, it seems that the author of the game is paying users with in-game currency in exchange for positive reviews on Steam, a ploy that goes against the terms of service of the digital platform Valve. The controversial situation was brought to light by a Reddit user who published a screen shot of a post taken from the official Shinobi Warfare Discord channel, with the person responsible inviting participants to download the game on Steam, play it for a while and then leave a positive review (with photographic proof) to receive 1000 gems to use within the RPG in exchange.
The issue has undergone generations of reactions and discontent among Reddit users, who invite report en masse Valve the matter in the hope that action will be taken. Among the comments there are also those who point out how Shinobi Warfare is known to be considered a scam game, with even the existence of a Facebook group entitled “Shinobi Warfare is a big scam”. It now remains to be seen whether Valve will actually act to put a stop to this unfair practice adopted by the creators of Shinobi Warfare.
In the meantime, Steam has reached 36 million active users at the same time, thus marking a new, great record.
