If you have been experiencing any type of problem with your Steam downloads, clearing the application cache may resolve the situation.
Today, continuing our board of tips and tutorials, below you can see how – and when – to clear the Steam download cache.
Clearing the Steam download cache is very simple. Although, before proceeding, It is necessary to understand in which situations cleaning this download data can be effective and what the consequences of this cleaning are.
If you have been experiencing lower than normal download speeds, problems launching your games or any other problem when downloading your games on Steam, clearing the platform's cache could be a solution.
But this action has consequences. When cleaning, Steam logs out of your in-app account, clears your download queue, cancels pending downloads, and uninstalls all mods to remove possible conflicts.
So, you need to be sure of what you want to do before proceeding. After all, logging into your account again may cost you a few seconds, but seeing your download queue completely cleared and having your mods removed can be quite frustrating.
In the case of mods, you can relocate them before clearing the cache. These are usually located in “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content”. Just copy the files out of the folder, clear the cache and place them in the same folder afterwards. Of course, if a mod is responsible for your problem and you perform the relocation, the problem may persist even after clearing the cache.
