Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller has revealed information about planned changes to the free-to-play hero shooter, which should start simultaneously with the launch of the tenth season.
First of all, Blizzard will stop adding new heroes to Overwatch 2 through the Battle Pass. They will begin to be made free for all players. Previously, let us remind you that in order to unlock new characters, gamers had to buy a premium battle pass (instant receipt) or spend a lot of time (passing several dozen stages) to receive it for free. The developers felt that the new and very simple way to get heroes should really appeal to gamers, so they even joked on the microblog that this was not a typo, but “players don’t dream about it.”
Overwatch coins will also be added to the free and premium battle passes, which can be used to purchase cosmetic items. Players will be able to squeeze a maximum of 600 of these monies out of the Battle Pass. Previously, you could earn 540 coins for free by completing challenges.
Aaron Keller also said that in Season 10, Overwatch 2 will undergo public testing of the Clash game mode with five capture points and the Hanaoka map for it. The full release of the Clash mode will take place later in 2024; two maps will be available for it at launch. And in the eleventh season, a new map, Runasapi, will appear for the Onslaught mode. the developers will release two maps.
