The new artificial intelligence functions made available by Samsung's Galaxy AI should reach 2023 devices this week. However, it was thought that they would just stay here. However, there is information that will greatly please anyone who has a previous model. Apparently Galaxy AI will reach the Galaxy S22 range. It's safe to say that the Galaxy S22 will gain new life!
Good news: Galaxy S22 can finally gain new life!
Samsung's Noh Tae-moon, head of the MX division, said in a recent interview that the company is going to bring Galaxy AI functions to the Galaxy S22, S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
This reverses course from the company's previous position. There it was said that only the Galaxy S23, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5 and Tab S9 products would receive these AI functions. The main point of contention in that announcement, however, was the Galaxy S23 FE, which runs on the same chipset and core specs as the Galaxy S22, leaving no specific reason for Samsung to skip the older generation.
So while there's no timeline in play or any promises to be made, it seems like the potential is still there.
Tae-moon explained, “Galaxy AI aims for “hybrid AI” that combines not only cloud-based AI but also on-device AI technology, which is greatly affected by hardware performance. To run an AI on the device that takes these hardware limitations into account, a lot of effort is required.
“Resources and efforts are being invested. We are gradually preparing plans to support a more complete experience. The S23 and the Fold and Flip products launched last year feature AI, and we are doing a lot of analysis on the previous model.”
Samsung's Galaxy AI functions are available now on the Galaxy S24 range and will arrive in “late March” on the Galaxy S23 and other Galaxy 2023 devices.
