Capcom has a lot of work to do.
Dragon's Dogma 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Capcom's acclaimed RPG, released on March 22nd and has already stirred up strong emotions among fans. Players embark on an exciting journey as the Risen, exploring a vast fantasy world and facing a variety of challenges along with mysterious creatures, pawns.
Despite high critical scores with a score of 87 on Metacritic and 89 on OpenCritic, largely due to its large, surprise-filled world and varied combat system, the reaction from the gaming community was ambivalent. Performance issues on PC, especially in urban locations due to the large number of NPCs, somewhat marred the experience of the game. Users are looking for unconventional solutions such as killing NPCs to improve performance.
Unfortunately, on Steam, fans expressed their displeasure by sharply downgrading the rating to “Mostly Negative.” This is especially true for the microtransaction system, which allows you to purchase items supposedly core to the game, such as a fast travel tool and the ability to change your character's appearance. The ability to find many of these items in the game itself doesn't lessen players' frustration with the fact that a $70 paid game offers $42 worth of additional content. Critics emphasize that the game still requires significant resources to run, recommending at least an Intel Core i5-10600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor and at least a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card.
Dragon's Dogma 2 can truly be called an exciting adventure with deep role-playing mechanics (players note this in reviews), but the system of extremely controversial microtransactions and an abundance of technical bugs make it difficult to enjoy the new product. At the time of writing, Dragon's Dogma 2 has collected over 10 thousand reviews on Steam, but only 40% of them are positive.
