As the developers at Dambuster Studios announced, “Dead Island 2” players can look forward to more content next month. We're talking about the second story expansion “SoLa”, which, among other things, brings with it a new storyline.
With “SoLa”, Deep Silver and the developers at Dambuster Studios announced the second story expansion for “Dead Island 2”. As the two companies announced, the DLC in question will appear on all platforms on April 17, 2024.
According to the developer, “SoLa” is the “ultimate Californian music festival” built on an ancient site. The beating heart of Los Angeles' latest rave is haunted by a psychedelic beat that brings a dark presence to the scene.
According to Dambuster Studios, we can look forward to a completely new story. A deadly virus is sweeping through the valley, turning its residents into ravenous zombies. After a mysterious warning signal lured you to the festival, in the new DLC you are faced with the task of exploring the ruins of SoLA and stopping a dark threat.
A new location and new opponents
The developers say about the new area that you will visit in the “SoLa” DLC: “A visceral, blood-soaked music festival in the heart of HELL-A. It echoes with the sound of The Beat, which threatens to turn the living into zombies and may soon find its way out of the abandoned city and around the globe.”
In the new area we also encounter completely new opponents. Including the so-called whipper. In Whipper we are dealing with an enemy of the Apex variant. This one has been driven mad by the autophages, loathes itself and uses its eviscerated innards to attack you from a distance.
The Clotter is another new apex zombie. In combat, the Clotters rely on the ability to decompose in a pile of entrails, become briefly invulnerable and regroup elsewhere.
“He is capable of firing a powerful jet of putrid blood from his heart, making him deadly both up close and from a distance,” the Clotter continued.
With new weapons against the undead
So that you are not defenseless against the threats lurking in “SoLa”, the DLC also provides new weapons. “Rip the undead apart with the Ripper, a deadly fusion of a baseball bat and a circular saw to create a powerful dismemberment machine,” says the expanded weapons arsenal.
“For long-distance dismemberment, try the Sawblade Launcher: A heavy weapon that fires rotating saw blades, this is the perfect weapon for long-distance decapitations and dismemberments.”
“Dead Island 2” was released in April 2023 for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. The story begins a few months after the events of the predecessors and takes us to California. Due to a zombie outbreak, the government declared the US state a quarantine zone.
In “Dead Island 2” we take control of one of six characters who take on the fight against the undead with individual strengths and abilities.
