The panel on Final Fantasy 16 Rising Tide held during PAX East 2024 offered Square Enix the ideal media showcase for the announcement of the launch date of this long-awaited expansion, as well as for the reveal of a free Update that will bring many surprises.
The highlight of the showcase prepared by the Japanese publisher and developer is certainly represented by the focus on Rising Tide, with numerous details on the expansion accompanied by an evocative trailer that sets the release of the Final Fantasy 16 DLC at the next April 18.
The narrative plot drawn up by the developers of FF16 to give shape to Rising Tide is inspired by a letter received from Clive who urges him to go to the coastal region of Mysidia to save the Leviathan from the forces that threaten the very survival of legendary Eikon of Water. Once they arrive on site, Clive and his friends will have to form an alliance with Shula and try your hand at a whole new series of challenges and activities, both in the Mysidia region and in the areas that were the backdrop to the events of the main campaign.
Square Enix's participation in PAX East 2024 in Boston then gave the Japanese company the opportunity to present the Free Update 1.30 of Final Fantasy 16, a rich free update which will include a whole series of improvements, optimizations and, above all, additions designed to further expand and stratify the gameplay.
For example, the Free Update 1.30 will introduce a function that will allow players to cancel a mission and return to the 'starting point', as well as adding icons for the characters' most important missions and the Skill Set function which will allow users to save up to five custom sets of unique talents and abilities. Numerous skills and as many accessories will then be modified to facilitate use and a system will be introduced to customize the controls, as well as many other interventions on the 'quality of life' and additions to the Photo mode, the soundtrack and the audio sector in general.
While waiting to know the launch date of Free Update 1.30, we leave you with our review of Final Fantasy 16.
