Final Fantasy 16 is preparing to welcome its second DLC. Square Enix has indeed unveiled the official trailer for Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tidethe second expansion of the Action RPG video game released on PlayStation 5 last June 22nd and which, we remember, is preparing to be released on PC, although the release date is not known at the moment. This, fortunately, does not apply to The Rising Tide. Square has in fact kept its promise to release the DLC in the spring, precisely on April 18, 2024. The DLC is obviously included in the Expansion Pack, currently available at a discount.
Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide, details on the new expansion
Set shortly before the epilogue of Final Fantasy 16, The Rising Tide will see Clive and his friends help the Leviathan Dominator. The description of the DLC reads: “An anonymous letter arrives at the refuge containing a singular request: the Dominator of Leviathan, the Eikon of Water, who has not been heard from for some time now, needs help. To answer the call, Clive and his companions must reach Mysidia, a hidden land surmounted by blue skies, where they will discover the tragic story of a forgotten people”.
Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide will not arrive alone, but will be accompanied by some new features. The Level Cap will be moved to 60 in Story Focused and Action Focused modes, while in Final Fantasy (New Game+) mode it will be moved to 110. Clive will also be able to enjoy new Eikonic abilities for the Leviathan which will allow him to tame the tides and destroy anyone who comes before him thanks to the power of the Eikon of Water. The beauty? Clive will also get another power, but Square Enix has decided to leave the pleasure of discovery to gamers.
Kairos Gate, the new mode arriving with 1.30 and which will be unlocked after completing the game plus the DLC, will allow players to face waves of enemies in a series of increasingly difficult levels. Over the course of the 20 levels that make up Kairos Gate, Clive will be able to upgrade himself with weapons and new materials. There will also be an online leaderboard where you can take into account the progress of other players and, possibly, try to reach the top.
