After two successful films, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson must indeed return for a third Jumanji adventure which is nevertheless starting to be desired.
A successful sequel
In 2017, Sony Pictures spotted the right opportunity by offering spectators Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, both a sequel and a reboot of the cult 1995 film. It was then Dwayne Johnson who succeeded the late Robin Williams in this family comedy which brings together Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart. A shock team that hits the mark as the film collects nearly $960 million at the box office. A big success, which logically gave rise to a sequel two years later with Jumanji: Next Level. Here again, the public responded and the film grossed more than 800 million dollars worldwide. However, after this resounding success, a third film has not yet been announced. In 2020, directors Jake Kasdan and Jeff Pinkner nevertheless raised the idea of a new project with Collider.
We're just starting to talk about all this. We had just started discussions when the global pandemic hit. We love working together and we loved making these films. (…) There will be a third film, but at the moment we are trying to determine what it will be.
A third feature film has therefore indeed been confirmed. But four years later, still no news. Is Dwayne Johnson's busy schedule to blame?

A difficult shoot to plan?
In 2021, producer Hiram Garcia assured: a fourth Jumanji film starring Dwayne Johnson must see the light of day. “We started discussing the 4th part. I can't tell you anything yet, but it's one of our biggest projects, one of our favorites too. We're planning big things. It's all in the works. “is one of our biggest projects. Once Jake Kasdan and Dwayne Johnson have finished Red One, Jumanji will be on deck,” he said at the time. Red One is Jake Kasdan's next film, scheduled for release on November 15 on Amazon Prime Video.
That being said, it seems difficult to believe in the upcoming start of Jumanji when Dwayne Johnson's schedule is completely overloaded. The actor must return in Moana 2 which is also expected at the end of 202. In addition, The Rock must also make his return to the world of Fast & Furious with two spin-offs: Hobbs & Shaw 2, but also Hobbs & Reyes in which he will face Jason Momoa. We will therefore have to wait and see how all these projects fit together before hearing about Jumanji again. To be continued!
