Dragon's Dogma 2 has caught the attention of RPG fans, but not for the right reasons. Following the addition of elements that were not included in the test versions, Capcom's game is being demolished on Steam and Metacritic, and we understand very well why…

Dragon's Dogma 2 draws the wrath of the community
Dragon’s Dogma II just released on PlayStation 5, Steamet Xbox Seriesand naturally, the game of Capcom gets a lot of attention – unfortunately not always for the better. Even if most tests and other reviews are rather favorable, including ours which awarded it 16/20players seem to be of a completely different opinion if we look at what is currently happening on the pages Steam et Metacritic Game.
While the evaluations were rather positive until now, these are now averagesand they are well on their way to becoming rather negative. Why such a change ? Could the small black spots highlighted in most of the tests, such as the lack of ergonomics of the menus and intermittent drops in performance be the cause? Well imagine no! The reason is quite different, and it seems rather justified to us…
Vermund's economy is collapsing
When you buy Dragon’s Dogma 2 on Steamyou not only have access to the game, but also to a page dedicated to its DLCs. No problem in itself, some studios plan DLCs well in advance, and a game with additional content is quite common these days. The problem is that the DLCs in question are more akin to micro-transactions than anything else. Indeed, the elements offered are items that can mostly be found in game, such as Camp sets to rest, Jail keys to escape from prisons, and even Revival stones to revive teammates.
But there are also items like Versatile Incensean object which allows you to change the personality of a pawn (in a random manner as well), volumes of Art of Metamorphosis to change the appearance of your Insurgent, Portacristaux to mark fast travel locations on the map (a rare in-game item), and even packs of Rift Crystalsthe in-game currency Capcom, all ranging from €0.99 to €4.99 depending on the item and its quantity. The most astonishing thing about all of this is that the majority of these items can certainly be obtained in-game without the help of these “micro-DLCs”but most are quite difficult to find, and some are only available in limited quantities, such as the Art of Metamorphosis volumes which are quite rare.
Worse still, the Explorer Camp Gear proposed on the page Steam, is not only not normally available in-game, but it also weighs less than those you can acquire for free. And to top it all off, you can buy some to infinity in the in-game stores once you unlock it. This is enough to annoy players who have already paid €65.99 for the game – or even €74.99 for the deluxe version…
