As you can imagine, after many millions buried in investment to acquire development studios, Microsoft, despite knowing that this generation is doomed, does not want to throw in the towel.
However, everything indicates that Microsoft has already realized that trying to do the same thing, and expecting different results… is… well… silly! This is exactly why the North American giant is currently planning an extremely interesting and powerful portable console for the world of video games.
End of Xbox? None of that! Next step is a portable console!
Therefore, if you look closely at the world of consoles, you will quickly realize that the biggest loser in recent years is Microsoft, more specifically its Xbox Series S and X consoles.
Interestingly, Sony, which has always been CRAZY about exclusivity, is already launching PlayStation games for the PC, and it seems that it may be about to allow the use of its PSVR2 helmet on that same platform. These are all “little things” that ended up doing severe damage to the Xbox universe.
However, not everything is bad for Microsoft, especially if we look at Xbox Game Pass.
This is exactly why the North American giant now wants to take advantage of the “madness” of portable consoles, to launch a portable device capable of taking full advantage of all the capabilities and advantages of this Premium subscription.
This is especially interesting because Microsoft can leverage all the work that has been done on Windows 11 over the past few years. Especially after the launch of the Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. Consoles that are basically “blazing” the way in this still complicated world of portable consoles based on PC hardware, with support for the always complicated Windows.
Will Microsoft be able to launch a really interesting Xbox portable console, based on its Xbox Game Pass subscription? Here we cannot forget that Sony is also very interested in launching a portable console, sometime in 2027. Is it a question of who launches it first?
