After presenting the new Rising Tide DLC at PAX East 2024, the authors of Final Fantasy 16 gathered in front of the Famitsu microphones to reveal further details on what players will be able to experience starting from April 18th.
In speaking, DLC Game Director Takeo Kujiraoka first revealed that the team's intention from the beginning was to create “an adventure in a brighter world”. Even though it is set before the ending of Final Fantasy 16, “the story of the DLC was designed to offer players a sense of hope“. Those who appreciated the main experience will however be able to find all the distinctive features of the production and the world of Valisthea.
With the aim of further teasing longtime players, Kujiraoka also teased the presence of un Easter egg. The new game area, Mysidia, represents a tribute to the cities populated by maghi in Final Fantasy II e Final Fantasy IV!
Rising Tide, we remind you, will be available for purchase starting from April 18th. The story sees Clive and his companions travel to the coastal region of Mysidia with the aim of saving the legendary Eikon of Water, the Leviathan, from forces that threaten his survival. Once there, the group will be called to form an alliance with Shula and try their hand at a new series of activities which will also involve places in Valisthea already seen in the main adventure. Together with the paid DLC, update 1.30 of Final Fantasy 16 will also be made available completely free of charge. Among the new features included the possibility of canceling a mission already undertaken and the Skill Set function, which will give the opportunity to save up to five unique skill sets that can be called upon as needed.
