After opening a window on the future with the statements on the enormous next-gen RPG that will make Baldur's Gate 3 pale in comparison, the boss of the Larian studios Swen Vincke shares some interesting reflections on the next video game from the Belgian software house.
The founder of the development house that won GOTY awards in 2023 with Baldur's Gate 3 took the opportunity given to him by the Eurogamer.net editorial team to report that he is working on “a project that will still be quite familiar but different compared to what we have done to date. The tone, style and methods we are using to develop this new idea are certainly new to the Larian team, and I think a lot of this stuff can be really appealing to audiences. I'd like to talk about it in more depth because I look at this project enthusiastically, but at the moment I can't say anything else. The only thing I can confirm is that it will be something innovative.”
Returning then to the bombastic declarations on the 'mega-RPG of the future that will make Baldur's Gate 3 pale', Vincke corrects his point by claiming that “I think I was misunderstood, or perhaps that sentence came out badly due to severe jet lag. The fact is that the future project I was referring to won't 'dwarf' all other RPGs. It will be huge and ambitious, that's for sure. But I mean, Baldur's Gate 3 is an extremely ambitious and content-packed game, so I don't think it's worth wasting time throwing comparisons to something that I think is 'good enough' right now!”
