Having definitively put aside the hopes of working on a new Days Gone, the guys at Sony Bend Studio are now dedicating body and soul to the creation of a brand new IP. We still don't have precise news on the matter, but the job advertisements indicate that there is excitement in the studio.
The Bend, Oregon-based company recently began a search for a Lead Project Manager who has, among other things, experience in creation of triple A Live Service games. This shouldn't surprise you, since it's been known for some time that Bend Studio is working on “a new IP that includes multiplayer built on the open world systems of Days Gone”. There is therefore no future for Deacon St. John (at least for the moment, who knows whether things will change in the future), however the game systems of his adventure will continue to live in the next Bend Studio IP coexisting with new multiplayer mechanics and live service still to be discovered. At the moment we don't know anything else about it, except that this new Sony IP has been “cooking” since 2022, perhaps (and we underline perhaps) with Guerrilla Games' Decima Engine.
If there are experienced developers among you, we would like to point out that Sony Bend Studio is also looking for two job figures to integrate remotely, to be precise a Sr Manager Game Design (PD) and a Senior Staff Technical Artist Environment. All the details can be found on PlayStation Careers.
