Yesterday, the China Development Forum began in Beijing, in which a representative delegation of foreign businessmen came to participate. Apple CEO Tim Cook, who has been in the Middle Kingdom on a working trip since the middle of last week, did not stand aside. During his speech to the event participants, Cook assessed the contribution of Chinese suppliers to achieving the goal of carbon neutrality, and also confirmed Apple's intention to launch sales of the Vision Pro AR/VR headset in the country.
During a speech at the China Development Forum, which was attended by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and more than 80 foreign executives, Tim Cook said Apple's Chinese partners are not only receptive to the goal of carbon neutrality, but also innovate and look for new ways of doing business. The Apple CEO noted that Chinese suppliers make a “tremendous contribution” to achieving carbon reduction goals.
Answering questions after his speech, the head of Apple confirmed that the Vision Pro mixed reality headset will go on sale in the Middle Kingdom in 2024. He also added that Apple intends to continue increasing investment in research and development in China. Cook's announcement regarding plans to launch the Vision Pro was the first clear confirmation that Apple's AR/VR headset will hit the market in a specific country this year. While Apple previously said it intended to begin selling the Vision Pro outside the US “later in 2024”, it did not provide a specific timeline or where exactly the device would become available. According to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Vision Pro will hit the global market after Apple's annual WWDC conference, which usually takes place in the first week of June.
