The latest rumors about the iPhone 16 Pro come from analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong Tech Research, who is saying that the A18 Pro processor will undergo some changes.
The well-known analyst says that the changes serve the purpose of providing the smartphone with powerful AI performance.
Apple wants AI processing on the device and in the cloud

According to information released by Jeff Pu, Apple is increasing the matrix area of the A18 Pro chip so that it can accommodate more transistors and specialized components. All because the company wants the processing of AI resources to be done in the cloud, but also directly on the device.
It should be noted that these rumors suggest that Apple's cloud infrastructure for AI resources could result from a partnership between Tim Cook's company and Google. Unfortunately, no further details were released about the potential partnership that brings together these two technological giants.
But the increased die area of the A18 Pro processor may pose some challenges for Apple. All because this change can also lead to increased risks of chip failures and defects.
Furthermore, this increase in the chip matrix could also negatively affect the energy efficiency of the iPhone 16 Pro. And these are the issues that Apple will have to resolve before the new processor enters the mass production phase.
According to previously released rumors, it is expected that this year, the base iPhone 16 and 16 Plus models will be equipped with the A18 chip. The most advanced models, iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, will be equipped with the all-powerful A18 Pro processor.
If the information is confirmed, this year Apple will change its strategy in differentiating new generation models. Remember that the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models – available in Portugal for prices starting at €989 – are equipped with the A16 chip. The most advanced models have the A17 Pro processor and start at €1,249.
