Mass Effect Next is still in the pre-production phase and it will still be some time before BioWare shows us something concrete of the new chapter of the Sci-Fi series, especially considering that priority is given to the more imminent Dragon Age Dreadwolf.
In the meantime, the Canadian company wanted to reassure fans, who are worried that the project is being managed by developers and creatives who have little to do with the past of the franchise. Michael Gamble, who has put his signature on the Mass Effect series since 2010, clarified that the development team of Mass Effect Next (the official name of the game is not yet known) is led by some veterans of the series.
The discussion was reignited after a post by content creator Kala Elizabeth, who on X|Twitter declared in defense of the software house: “The team behind Mass Effect 5 is mostly made up of veteran developers of the original trilogy, many of which are present from the beginning. I honestly think the game is in very good hands and the story everyone has told is disrespectful to those who are still there, games are not made by just one developer!”.
A user legitimately asked how the content creator knew these details, to which BioWare's Michael Gamble intervened directly, specifying that the beating heart of the development team is made up of the executive producer (i.e. Gamble himself), the director art director, creative director and game director who are all veterans of the trilogy.
According to insider Jeff Grubb, Mass Effect Next will only be released in 2028-2029.
