After some very confusing years in the Android ecosystem, the wearables component is finally gaining some strength and consistency! Something curious, because the thing is quite honestly due to Samsung's support and reinforced investment in the world where Google is in charge.
After all, the best Android smartwatch has been on Samsung's side for a few years now, some of the best earbuds are also on Sammy's side, and it seems that, in addition to watches, the South Korean giant also wants to start stretching itself to other segments that are little explored, such as smart rings.
However, despite all the bets and excitement around new “little things”, it is undeniable that the wearable that attracts the most attention continues to be the smart watch, which is exactly why Samsung will make some adjustments to its launch strategy in 2024.
Samsung will also have an Ultra watch in 2024!
Therefore, after a strategy divided between now a year of Classic models, now a year with a single Pro model, Samsung is ready to end the “test” to try something new. In other words, in 2024, we will see 4 versions of the new Galaxy Watch 7, a base version, a Pro version, and apparently, an Ultra version.
SM-L300 e SM-L305 – Base
SM-L310 e SM-L315 – Pro
SM-L700 e SM-L705 – Ultra
In addition to the changes in the launch strategy, Samsung also wants to equip the new versions with a more capable SoC, greater battery life, and apparently, more RAM and more internal storage.
Isn't a Galaxy Watch Ultra a copycat effort?
In reality no. Samsung has already been using the Ultra nomenclature since the Galaxy S20 Ultra in 2020, and it was even Apple that thought it would be good to “steal” the naming strategy from its old rival. Furthermore, Samsung has been offering different versions of its watches for several years, so that there is an alternative for all types of users.
However, as you can already imagine, this Ultra version is the watch that arrived on the Internet a few weeks ago with a design more similar to the Apple Watch. In other words, it is very likely that the Base and Pro versions will remain circular, while the Ultra version of the Galaxy Watch exchanges the circular design for a more “square” one. But this is not an imitation either. Since Samsung's first watch (Gear Live) was a watch based on a more square design.
Unfortunately, we don't know much more about Samsung's efforts in this field. Just that these watches should come out at the same time as the new foldables. In addition, they also arrive on the market accompanied by the Galaxy Ring, the company's first smart ring.
It is also worth saying that, this time, everything indicates that the launch will take place in September. All in order to directly rival Apple and its iPhone 16 range.
