Spotify has just taken a step forward in the computer user experience with the launch of a long-awaited function: Miniplayer. This new feature has everything to improve the way we interact with our favorite music and podcasts.
All about Spotify Mini Player
Miniplayer is a good alternative for those who want to have the perfect soundtrack for every moment of the day, but hate having to constantly switch between windows. It is compatible with both music and podcasts.
This little reader floats discreetly above other apps, letting you stay focused on what really matters. In other words, you can move between songs without closing the work window or simply watch the videocast in the corner of the screen.
One of the most interesting features of the Mini Reader is its adaptability. Whether you prefer a square, rectangular or sleek bar design, the Mini Reader fits into your workspace. For minimalists, “compressed” mode gives the basic controls and takes up as little space as possible.
Exclusive for premium users
For now, the Mini Reader is available exclusively to Premium users. To activate it, simply look for the Mini Reader icon in the bottom right corner of your application on your computer, between the volume and full screen buttons.
The introduction of the Mini Reader generated quite a huge fuss in the Spotify community. Among the most requested features for the future are the inclusion of a progress bar and the possibility of jumping to a specific part of a song or podcast directly from the Minireader.
Some users will have encountered technical challenges, especially on Mac devices with M1 and M2 chips. But Spotify is already aware and is working to ensure that everyone can enjoy this new feature as soon as possible.
In my case, with a MacBook Air with M1, this functionality is already working fully.
