Fallout 76, the online co-op spin-off from Bethesda's Fallout series, now has an illustrious past behind it. In 2018 it was released to less than acclaim, only to gradually gain a better reputation within the community years later thanks to numerous updates. Although it was released as a multiplayer title on multiple platforms, it lacks a feature that seems commonplace today. We're talking about crossplay across various platforms.
Phil Spencer criticizes the lack of cross-save feature in Fallout 76
The missing crossplay feature is indeed a flaw, the absence of which also seems to drive Xbox boss Phil Spencer crazy. In an interview with Polygon, Spencer spoke primarily about gaming handhelds and the idea of having all games and saves in one place. He also explained that Fallout 76 drives him “crazy” because it doesn't have a cross-save feature.

Fallout 76 | OPINION | Should you play this? I say yes!
“Are all my games there? Are all my games showing up with the save files I want? I can tell you one game that doesn't have that right now – and this is driving me crazy – namely Fallout 76. It has “No cross-save function,” says Spencer literally. For example, the saves of Fallout 76 on the Xbox Series X and the PC version are created individually because there is no cross-save feature. While other development studios have often added such functions for their titles, Fallout 76 players are still tied to their platform.
