At least two studios are working on such projects.
Chinese internet giant Tencent is working on games in the style of Palworld, a “Pokémon with guns” game created by Japanese studio Pocketpair, Bloomberg sources said. There are said to be at least two Palworld clones in the works.
One game is supposedly being developed by the Timi studio, the other by the Lightspeed studio; both companies are owned by Tencent. According to the publication, games from both studios are being developed for mobile platforms.
And here's another story
Both projects allegedly contain “animal companions and stylized violence.” It is alleged that the games will have open world elements, there will be crafting and survival mechanics; At the same time, players will raise virtual pets.
According to Bloomberg, with the help of a game in the spirit of Palworld, Tencent intends to find a new point of growth for the gaming division. In the last quarter, the revenue of the gaming division of the holding decreased by 2%, this is unusual: the quarter fell on the holidays.
The development of several similar games, the publication notes, is typical for Tencent. For example, the company's most successful projects, Honor of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite, were also created as a result of internal competition.
Bloomberg's sources do not specify when Tencent's Palworld analogues may be released.
